Erika B. Olmedo founded Communikids LLC in 2007 and provides speech-language and feeding evaluation, therapy and consultation services to children and their families at home and school settings.
Erika received her Masters degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas, and has been working as a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 18 years. She has experience working with children with various disabilities in different settings, including private and public schools, clinics, and home. She has worked as a clinical supervisor for the Florida International University graduate program, training interns from the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at the public school settings.
In her work, Erika follows the principles of theDIR®/Floortime™ model. This approach consists of addressing the child’s levels of development, taking into account his/her individual differences, and capitalizing on the role relationships play in supporting growth and learning. In addition to being a certified DIR/Floortime clinician, Erika also focuses her practice in the area of Feeding, working with children considered to be picky eaters, as well as with those with feeding disturbance/dysphagia.
